Recipe Scaler On-device
Resize any recipe without odd decimals.
Ingredients
Add at least one ingredient with an amount.
Volume amounts snap to the fractions a measuring set can actually produce. Weights round to a precision a kitchen scale can show, never to a fraction — a third of a gram is not something you can measure.
Scaling changes quantities only. Cooking times, pan sizes and oven temperatures do not scale with them.
Scale a recipe up or down by servings, or by pinning one ingredient to the amount you actually have. Volume amounts snap to the fractions a measuring set can really produce, and weights round to a precision a kitchen scale can show. Runs entirely on your device.
About this tool
What you provide
- Your ingredient list as amount, unit and name
- Either a base and target serving count, or one pinned ingredient and the amount you actually have
What you get
- Every amount rescaled by the same factor, with the factor shown
- Volume and count amounts as cooking fractions, weights rounded to a precision a kitchen scale can show
- The scaled list as copyable text
Limits
- Scaling changes quantities only — cooking times, pan sizes and oven temperatures do not scale with them.
- Amounts snap to the nearest measurable fraction or scale precision, so a scaled figure is rounded rather than exact.
How to use it
Choose how to scale
Under Scale by, pick Servings to resize the recipe by head count, or One ingredient to resize it around the amount you actually have.
Set the target
In Servings mode fill Recipe serves and You need it to serve, or tap Half, Double or Triple; in One ingredient mode use Pick the ingredient to scale by and Amount you have.
Enter your ingredients
Under Ingredients, fill each row with an amount, a unit (cup, tbsp, tsp, ml, l, g, kg, oz, lb, piece or no unit) and the ingredient name, tapping Add ingredient for another row.
Read and copy the list
The table puts each original amount next to the scaled one under the Every amount × factor line, and Copy scaled list takes it with you.
Frequently asked questions
Can I scale by one ingredient instead of by servings?
Yes. Pin any ingredient, type the amount you actually have, and every other amount follows the same factor. Scaling by servings works the same way from a base and target serving count.
Why do volume amounts show as fractions but weights do not?
Volume amounts snap to the fractions a measuring set can really produce, such as a third or three quarters of a cup, so you never get a repeating decimal. Weights round to a precision a kitchen scale can show, because a third of a gram is not something you can measure.
Do cooking times scale too?
No. Scaling changes quantities only. Cooking times, pan sizes and oven temperatures do not scale with them, so judge those by the recipe and by eye.
