Limits
- A link is never opened for you: shortened, insecure or lookalike addresses are flagged, and the decision stays yours.
- No product lookup — a barcode carries only the number printed beneath it, and naming the product would need a network request to a licensed database.
- Which code types are available depends on your browser: some have a built-in reader, others download the bundled one (about 1 MB, cached after the first use).
How to use it
Start a scan
Tap Open camera and point it at the code — it reads on its own with no shutter — or use Upload an image or Paste an image instead.
Pick the code
When more than one code is in the frame the tool lists them and never picks for you; tap the one you meant.
Read the result card
The card names what the code is — Link, Wi-Fi network, Contact, ZATCA invoice QR, IBAN, product barcode or Text — and shows the check digit for a barcode and the checksum verdict for an IBAN.
Act on it yourself
Copy link is the primary action and Open link only opens on your tap, with shortened, insecure or lookalike addresses flagged first; earlier scans sit under "Recent scans", where Clear all removes them.
Frequently asked questions
Does the image or the scanned code leave my device?
No. Camera frames, uploaded photos and pasted screenshots are decoded in your browser, on your device, and nothing about them is sent anywhere. The list of recent scans is kept on this device only, and you can clear it at any time.
Why doesn't tapping a QR code open the link straight away?
Because a QR code hides where it points, and that is a common phishing method. The reader shows you the full address first and flags a shortened, insecure or lookalike domain — opening it stays your decision, not the app's.
Which code types can it read?
QR, Data Matrix, Aztec and PDF417, plus the retail barcodes EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 39, Code 93, Code 128 and ITF. Which of them your device actually offers depends on whether your browser has a built-in reader or the page falls back to the bundled one, and the tool tells you which is in use.
Can it tell me which product a barcode belongs to?
No. A barcode carries only the number printed beneath it; turning that number into a product name needs a network request to a licensed database, and this tool makes none. It verifies the check digit and shows you the number instead.
